Biomaterials Education Challenge

Meant to encourage student chapters to develop innovative and practical approaches to biomaterials education. Student teams will develop an educational module for middle school (6th-8th grade) science classes containing a hands-on activity. Each educational module will demonstrate fundamental biomaterials concepts, with scientific principles that are understandable to middle school audience and designed for a 45 minute class period.  We are looking for a team of 4-8 dedicated students to design, execute and asses the module under the guidance of Dr. Hudalla. The results from the module will be presented in the form of a poster at the national meeting (April 2015, Charlotte, NC)  and will be evaluated by educators across the spectrum, including innovative K-12 teachers and university professors. The student chapter with the project judged to have the greatest potential for education impact will be awarded $2500. Second, third, and fourth place will receive $1500, $750, and $500, respectively. Email Evelyn Bracho (e.bracho@ufl.edu) if you’re interested in being part of the team so we can arrange a meeting to further discuss.
